Over 750 physicians from leading orthopaedic institutions are registered to participate in a new family of registries offered through the national Musculoskeletal Outcomes Shared Platform (MOSP). Launched in January 2016, MOSP offers an unprecedented level of data reported by patients themselves, the ultimate judges of treatment value. OBERD, having electronically collected patient outcomes and satisfaction data for over 5 years from over 1.3 million patients, is a natural base for the MOSP registries.

For orthopaedic providers, the MOSP will allow participation in one, or several, registries across multiple specialties. The registries have been established, based on procedure, under specialty platforms starting with: Hip & Knee; Hand & Wrist; Foot & Ankle; Spine; and Sports Medicine. OBERD also offers surgical and non-surgical cross-specialty registries for Quality of Life and Quality of Life & Patient Satisfaction, which are appropriate for providers in both orthopaedic and non-orthopaedic specialties.

These national registries have been established to provide large data sets for benchmarking, research, and quality improvement initiatives, and are aligned with OBERD’s mission: To improve the quality and efficacy of care, through the collection and presentation of data that improves clinical decision-making and patient understanding.
